The Growing Influence of National Affairs

Over at the new website ConservativeHome USA, Yuval Levin has an article listing three essays from his magazine, National Affairs, that every Republican House member should read.

One thing I discovered while researching my piece for NRO on what books the new GOP leaders are reading is that National Affairs is already influential within the House GOP caucus. Paul Ryan calls Yuval after each issue to discuss the content, and he even cited a National Affairs article by Oliver Hart and Luigi Zingales during a CNBC appearance (he was explaining his support for a market-based trigger to determine how to wind down troubled financial firms, as opposed to the Democratic alternative of regulators’ discretion). Mike Sommers, a White House colleague of Yuval's and mine who is now Boehner’s policy director, is also a big fan of the new quarterly.
