Sarah Palin’s popularity in Iowa has decreased slightly since the end of 2009, according to a new poll by The Des Moines Register.
While the majority of Iowa Republican voters still perceive the former Alaskan governor favorably, that number is down to 65 percent, a six percentage point decrease from November of 2009. Among that group, 18 percent now view Palin very favorably, down from 27 percent.
Palin’s unfavorable ratings have reached 30 percent, up from 23 percent.
Of course, Palin has yet to make any efforts to woo Iowa voters or build relationships with state political operatives. And talking about her nationwide poll numbers earlier this month, Palin indicated that she could regain support among voters by campaigning actively.
“I look at those poll numbers and I say well, if I’m going to do this, then obviously I got to get out there and let people know who I am, what I stand for, and what my record is. I can’t rely on a liberal-leaning press,” Palin said.
